The Society was started in November 1985 by Mr Jim Clarke and the first meeting took place in the local Rathfeigh school. The
society currently has approx. 30 members and monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 8.30pm in a local venue.

The society is a member of the F.L.H.S. - Federation of local Historical Societies of Ireland.

The society’s aim and ambition is to record and preserve the history of our area. This is done by researching our area and identifying particular locations, subjects and past events that should be remembered and preserved. As a society/group we then hold fundraising events and social get togethers to raise the necessary funds to record and preserve our history.

Our group has a wide range of people of different ages and sexes and we have a great time together both socially and actively at all our events. Any donations always gratefully received and will go towards supporting us to preserve and promote the rich heritage of our local community.
